My product has become sticky

Use this Knowledge when a customer reports that a plastic or rubberized surface on a product has become sticky or greasy.

- Some plastic or rubberized surfaces may become sticky over time.
- Do not automatically conclude that the issue is normal wear or that it is or is not covered by a warranty or claim.
- The customer can try the cleaning methods below.

Method 1 – Baking soda

1. Mix approximately 20 g of baking soda with 15 ml of lukewarm water.
2. Apply the mixture gently to the sticky area.
3. Gently clean the surface.
4. Wipe the area with a damp cloth.

Method 2 – Potato starch

1. Apply a small amount of potato starch to the sticky area.
2. Gently work it over the affected surface.
3. Wipe the area with a damp cloth.

Important

- Clean the affected area gently.
- Do not automatically approve or reject a warranty claim based on the sticky surface alone.
- If the issue remains unresolved and the customer wants further help, continue according to the relevant defective/non-working product Skill.
